Drones, a new tool for port maintenance provided by Actemium
The Grand Port Maritime of Dunkirk entrusted Actemium Maintenance Mécanique Dunkerque to perform preventive maintenance on locks and lifting bridges.
For one of the bridges, 50 meters long and dating back to 1960, special care had to be taken when monitoring and inspecting it. To avoid shutting down traffic, Actemium teams innovated and suggested using drones.
This solution enabled to record and analyze 4K images and videos of inaccessible areas. Compared to the conventional procedure using a standard nacelle, it also offers substantial benefits:
- Time cut down from 1 day to 2 hours
- Cost divided by 3
- Massive safety improvements
A great example of Actemium teams’ ability to adapt to challenging environments in order to respond to customer needs.
